Natural reserve Aiguamolls de l'Empordà

The Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, located between the mouths of the Fluvià and the Muga, is one of the most important humid zones of Catalonia. Due to the canal systems and irrigation of the plants, the place is rich in freshwater. Because of the immense natural richness the Parque Natural de Aiguamolls was declared as a fully protected Natural Reserve in 1983, which is the highest level of natural protecting in the Catalan legislation. The indigenous fauna and flora are worth your visit.

DISTANCE: Camping Nautic Almata is situated in the heart of the natural reserve and has access to the park at the beach and by following a path near the entrance of the camping.

Ruines of Empuries

In Sant Martí d’Empuries you can discover one of the most important archaeological sites of Catalonia. The Greek settled here in the beginning of the 6th century BC. Later during the 2nd century the Romans started the Romanization of the Iberian Peninsula from this place. The enclave of the Gulf of Roses has always been a geographically strategic place.
